Above Ground Pool Pump Help (cont)

Although there is not much to installing an above ground pool pump you may want to read through this section just to make sure you follow the proper setup instructions. Read through your instruction booklette that came with your pool pump. The following is some general information regarding above ground pool pumps.

Installing an Above Ground Pool Pump

Installing an above ground pool pump is a lot easier than it sounds. Its as easy as bolting the motor to your base, connecting the intake/discharge hoses to your pump/filter, and plugging the cord into the outlet. Most likely all of this is already done for you when you purchase your pool pump and filter. Replacing an old pool pump will be easy if you just remember how you disconnected it.

The most important part or the pool pump installation will be choosing the location for your above ground system. For the best pump performance you want to choose a location as close to the water source as possible. Above ground pool pumps are designed to be fed water from a source on a higher level. Make sure that your pump does not sit above water level or else you may have problems priming your pump (or less technically stated, getting water to initially flow through your pool pump).

The last point of to make is that you want to make sure your compression fittings or unions, are correctly aligned with the pool pump connections to allow the o-ring to make the proper seal. You want to hand tighten the seals; do not use a wrench to tighten the fittings.
