Winterizing Your Above Ground Pool Pump

To prevent damage to your above ground pool pump during the winter time, you will want to perform some steps to make sure your pool pump is safe from the harsh winter conditions.

Winterizing Your Pool Pump

To winterize you pool pump turn off all electrical power connected to your pump. Drain your pool pump and clean out the debris in the straining basket as well as the debris in the pump's impeller. You can do this by detaching the strainer pot from the pump and looking into the pump intake for any debris that may be caught in the impeller. You can protect the pump and motor by covering it or storing it in a dry, well-ventilated room.
